The simple answer is the sooner the better! Drowning is the leading cause of injury-related death in children from ages 1-4. That is a scary statistic to every person. With so much water surrounding everything in Florida, it’s not only a life skill for every person to learn how to swim, it is a life saving skill!
The Swim Academy starts swim lessons for children as early as 6 months old. The earlier children start lessons, the more natural they will become in the water. Our program teaches children as they grow and develop so that not only will they continue their water safety and survival skills, but as their motor skills develop they will flourish into competent and correct swimmers.
The benefits of starting swim lessons early are more than just safety based. Water has 600 times more resistance than air so as a child is learning to swim they are also helping their muscular development as well as their coordination and gross motor skills development as well.
