ABSENCES AND MAKEUP POLICY:

A CANCELLATION IS ANY MISSED CLASS DUE TO SWIM ACADEMY CANCELING –

For inclement weather related cancellations, please try to wait until 30 minutes before your lesson before contacting the office for a weather update. If there is thunder and lightning, the lessons will be canceled for at least thirty minutes following lightning detected within 6 – 10 miles. If the weather improves, lessons will continue on a regular schedule. Quite often, the weather is different at the pool than it is at your home. Do not assume lessons are canceled. We will text and/or email you as we cancel classes.

**Cancellations are good for 6 months, but you don’t have to be enrolled to use them.**

AN ABSENCE IS ANY MISSED CLASS DUE TO CLIENT CALLING OUT

Makeup classes are available for absences with notice before 6 AM for morning lessons or 10 AM for afternoon and evening lessons. Notice can be given by call, text or email. No makeup classes will be given for no-shows, late arrivals, late cancellations as detailed above, or for refusal to swim with a substitute Instructor without a 10.00 rescheduling fee to help cover the cost of an instructor with no lesson.

Make-ups are the parent’s responsibility to schedule and may be scheduled up to two weeks prior to the date of make-up. Once a make-up is scheduled it can not be rescheduled without a 10.00 charge. Make-ups are valid for 6 months from issue and are non-refundable and you must be currently enrolled to use them.

There is a 10.00 reschedule fee for any makeup or late call that is rescheduled. And in turn if we cancel a makeup then we will credit your account for that lesson.

Overabundance of Swim Academy Cancellations – IF THE SWIM ACADEMY CANCELS MORE THAN 2 TIMES IN ANY ONE MONTH THOSE LESSONS OVER THE 2 CANCELS WILL BE CREDITED BACK TO CLIENT’S ACCOUNT NOT REFUNDED. Client is responsible for scheduling makeups for all absences as well as the cancellations.

Schedules are emailed on the 20th of each month for the following month with payment due by the 25th. After the 25th of the month if you request a schedule change there will be a 25.00 charge for doing so.

Holiday & Other Expected Closures
If the Swim Academy is aware of an impending closure such as a holiday, the client will be not charged if swim day falls on closure day. Medical Conditions: Please inform The Swim Academy of any medical conditions or allergies.

DIAPER POLICY:

Swim Diapers
It is mandatory that all non-toilet trained swimmers, regardless of age, wear a swim diaper. Children who are under age 4, newly potty-trained or not potty-trained must also wear a permanent swim diaper. A permanent swim diaper is a washable, reusable diaper that has elastic at the waist and the legs. Bowel movements in the pool can be a health hazard and may force us to cancel classes. Do not substitute: plastic training pants or regular diapers of any kind. Use ONLY the approved swim diapers such as these:

We have Swim Academy Fini Diapers here for $14.98.
Please do not buy a size for your child to “grow into” as the elastic on the leg openings must be tight enough to contain a bowel movement. Please note that permanent swim diapers do not hold liquids. The chemicals in the pool can more easily deal with urine than with a bowel movement. Parents are asked to change children in the appointed area only.

Certifications –
All of our instructors are certified through The American Red Cross in CPR, Lifeguarding and First-aid.

Instructor and Class Changes –
We do our best to accommodate specific instructor requests. However, specific requests for instructors are not guaranteed. Instructor substitutions, modifications and changes can occur at the sole discretion of The Swim Academy. If classes are not booked full, we reserve the right to combine classes to fill the class. We reserve the right to cancel, change lesson day, time, or level at any time at our sole discretion.

Timeliness –
Please be on time for your class. Classes begin and end at very specific times. Please arrive early enough so that your child has time to stop by the bathroom, get changed and get equipment ready before class begins. If you arrive late, your class will still end at the scheduled time and there can be no make up for lost time. Be aware, we will not issue makeups because a child is napping, tantruming, or refusing to participate.

Moving to the next level –
Every student learns skills at different rates. You should never look at another student and wonder why your child isn’t learning at the same pace. Swimming is a skill that takes time, patience and plenty of practice. Therefore, students will be tested for their step up and rewards that signify they have mastered the skills associated with a particular class level when their instructors believe they are ready.

Swimsuits –
All students must wear appropriate swimwear. While it is not required, we highly recommend that little girls wear one-piece swimsuits and as they attain the level where flip turns are required in the pool, boys may feel more comfortable wearing mid-length jammers.

Swim Caps –
Any student that has hair long enough to get in their eyes, face or mouth is required to pull hair back and secure or wear a swim cap. This enhances the comfort of our swimmers.

Towels –
You must bring your own towel – we do have towels available for purchase in our store.

Goggles –
may be worn by children who have completed and /or tested out of our learn to swim program and are furthering in their stroke development classes.
